NFL Report Monday Night Wrap Up: Michael Vick Ready to Play Again in the NFL 2 by www.Jamestowncalif.com

Michael Vick ready to play again in the NFL 2, Vick signs with the Eagles, Where does that leave Donovan McNabb?

It was more than a surprise Michael Vick signing with the Philadelphia Eagles. But that is how it stands, and already Vick is in Eagles training camp. Football season now in preseason. The Eagles come off last season NFC runner ups. A lot of the Eagles success last season was the play of D McNabb coming off his injury and getting the team to the National Football Conference Title game at Arizona. The Eagles game playing the Cardinals was a tough game, and for McNabb it was so close one game away from the Super Bowl. For the Eagles, there season is measured by if the team wins the Super Bowl.
Bringing in Michael Vick puts immediate pressure on Donovan McNabb. D McNabb is still your starter, and team leader. Vick s signing puts pressure on McNabb to perform well right away. This is good for McNabb in that if he plays strong all season there will be no reason to yank him, and insert the back up QB. The fans are still fascinated with McNabb. I think the Eagles are the best team in the NFC coming into the season, and perhaps is the pick to reach the Super Bowl if your a sports expert. Teams that get close the prior season have the motivation to continue playing strong enough to reach that title game. The NY Giants won the Super Bowl two years ago, and with a competitive division along with the Dallas Cowboys and Washington Redskins, the Philadelphia Eagles have a tough schedule. Donovan McNabb's experience in that division is crucial for the Eagles success whether Michael Vick plays or not down the stretch.
There is always going to be that added pressure for the Eagles coaching staff to insert Michael Vick to see what he can do. But what if the Eagles are 3-1 the first four games, would you insert Vick for McNabb with McNabb playing well and just getting comfortable in the season?
Vick's purpose for the Eagles serves three purposes. Number One if McNabb gets hurt, Vick comes in to a winning team that is skilled in many positions. If McNabb struggles the first half the season and the Eagles are 4-4 or 5-5, would you still switch McNabb for Vick. A lot of times, McNabb gets wins down the stretch. By playoff time and the season is starting to fatigue players with some players getting injured also inserting M Vick can be a boost for the Eagles when the team needs a player to come in and score points. Vick can also be traded to another team mid season or next season. If McNabb plays well this is where the Sports broadcasters and writers may jolt the news by drawing some controversy. McNabb's play is crucial in all this for the Eagles to be successful in the 2009 Season.
There are a lot of good teams out there that last season were close or in the playoffs, and this season many teams are going to be hungry playing for improvements in their team. The Baltimore Ravens play in the same division as the Super Bowl Champion Pittsburgh Steelers and its going to be interesting to see how the two teams face off one another during the season and in the playoffs if they meet up. The Pittsburgh Steelers are still the team to beat in the AFC and in the NFL. The New England Patriots are also another team in the AFC that have players out there giving 100% and measure their season on how far they get into the playoffs. The AFC is going to be very competitive with the Indianapolis Colts winning the Super Bowl three seasons ago are always going to measure their season on whether the team gets to the Super Bowl. The San Diego Chargers are one of those teams in the AFC West that have yet to win the Super Bowl, and the team the last few years have been close.
The AFC this year is going to Rock. AFC or NFC, Donovan McNabb remains your Quarterback to start for the Eagles. When inserted, is Michael Vick ready to play is going to be the question, and will this move by the Eagles GM during the season or mid season draw a controversy? This all depends on how D McNabb plays and whether the Eagles are winning.

NFL Report Monday Night Wrap Up: Michael Vick Ready to Play Again in the NFL by www.Jamestowncalif.com

Michael Vick

After serving his suspension for the NFL, Michael Vick is back and the News of the day is which team will he play for. In my opinion, Michael Vick can win you eight games anywhere he plays. A lot of the criticism towards Vick seems to be over, and now with good news and the reinstatement from the league, the appeal for Vick is strong. Its tempting to sign him if your a team. If you are a GM of a franchise would you go out and sign Vick even if you already have a good QB?

There are a lot of teams that need a QB or Franchise Player like Vick. Vick does it all. He passes down the field, he runs up the field, and he has yet to reach his full potential. Being that he disgraced himself a bit on the dog fighting issue, he seems determined to put that all behind him. I think he will play harder and be a better player coming back from the suspension. Many GM s may agree or disagree.

The Raiders need a QB. Although Russell is the QB there in Oakland, he has yet to proove that he is able to lead a team to a 9-7 season into the playoffs. Vick can do well in Oakland and turn that franchise around over night. Plus for fans that have seen so much disappointment and disgust the past few years after the Super Bowl versus Tampa Bay, the fans there deserve to have a winning team. Who else can turn around that team more than Michael Vick. The Raiders stink, and have many areas that need improvement, and even with Vick, the sorry football in Oakland continues unless they can get to the playoffs. For the NFL to grant Vick the reinstatement ask him if he will consider playing for a franchise that needs improvement at Quarterback. When the Raiders win and do well, the NFL also wins.

Vick in the AFC is different than playing in the NFC. Other AFC teams that can use a Micheal Vick is the Cincinnati Bengals. Somebody needs to get the ball to Ocho Cinco 85 five or more times a game for a full season. The Ravens also can use an experienced QB, and the Ravens are already a strong team with Vick can only be stronger. The Texans also is a great team to play for and a great city to play under. The Texans play the Colts twice a year, and a Vick/Manning match up sounds interesting. Right now Michael Vick is the most interesting Man.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EUdSjpc9-70&feature=related Re Most Interesting Man Dos Equis.

Vick in the AFC is a change, and I d like to see him play for the Oakland Raiders. Vick can also consider playing for the Bills where they challenge the Patriots, Jets, and Dolphins. Vick in the NFC, we'll currently The Atlanta Falcons I thought still had first props on Vick. The most logical team for Vick to play for is to remain with the Falcons where the fans have accepted him for many years. The fans are what come first in the NFL. Vick can also play for another team to make more money while the Falcons elect to remain with the QB's they have.

Vick in the NFC, we'll which team needs a QB, and which team plays good teams all season for good TV ratings since Vick automatically is going to get ratings. The Sports TV producers are slobbering right now. Many Radio Personalities and broadcasters are talking about which team they think he can play for. ESPN s broadcaster just mentioned for Vick playing at Carolina, but I thought Carolina already has a Super Bowl QB on their team. The Saints already have a QB. The Rams can use all the help they can get. Would Vick playing in the same division if he leaves Atlanta influence where he plays? If it does that will leave the Rams out, and good because I enjoy it every time the Rams lose since leaving Anaheim.

Vick has options. Vick is the most interesting man after the Dos Equis personality. The Washington Redskins need a QB. Jason Cambell's performance the last few years has been questionable, and if the Redskins want to win, they have the money to sign Michael Vick. Vick in a Redskins uniform is an immediate sensation where they play the Giants, Eagles, and Cowboys two times each. NFC East Games are of the most competitive in the NFL, and I d like to see Michael Vick play for the Redskins under Coach Zorn.

Any other teams bidding to acquire Vick? That depends on Vick wanting to play in the AFC or NFC. The rest of the teams I had yet to mention are on the West Coast. What about Vick playing at Seattle? The Denver Broncos can use a New QB and Vick under that Broncos running game can make a coach smile many games. What about the Kansas City Chiefs, is Vick considering playing in KC?
In the NFC, the Dallas Cowboys want to win, and why not consider Michael Vick. Currently T Romo is QB for the Cowboys. Vick draws a lot of attention in the Southern Football atmosphere.

The Dallas Cowboys want to win football games. All teams want to win football games. Some teams want to win the Super Bowl, and anything short is a failed season. Some teams just want to get into the playoffs. Some teams just want to win 8 games and go 8-8. And then there are some teams, or a team that just wants to win One Game, and that is the Detroit Lions. The Detroit Lions and the NFC North is a very good option for Michael Vick where he plays under the Dome. The Lions ought to work towards doing all they can to sign Micheal Vick In my opinion. The NFC North is a good conference where the Lions play the Vikings, Bears, and Packers two times each. I just pumped up the Lions because I recently applied for a Radio Job in Detroit for West Wood One. We will see. James doing a Lions Report? I d like to. Just as I d like to see the NFL have a good, competitive, and fair season where the refs calls are all right, and the replays are correct. I just want a fair football season like any other football fan. Micheal Vick where do you think he ought to play? Inquiring Minds want to know. I want to know.

And after all this talk of where Michael Vick ought to play, Los Angeles still doesn't have a football team. Had the LA/OC area had a football franchise by now perhaps the local budget crisis would not be as severe. By now you would think that LA is in the mix for an NFL team, and Michael Vick instantly makes an impact no matter where he plays.

Lakers Win Game Four 99-91 in OT One Game Away From the NBA Title by jamestownjupiter.com Sports

Kobe on Jupiter

The Los Angeles Lakers come off the Game Three defeat 108-104, and Win Game Four 99-91 in Overtime. The Lakers get the win in spectacular fashion. Game 4 was the best game so far in the NBA Finals. With this win, the Lakers now go 3-1 in the series and are just One win away from the NBA Title. Kobe Bryant scores 32 points, 8 assists, 7 rebounds, 8-8 FT's.
This was a back and forth game early in the first quarter. Kobe starts the game with the first points of the game to give the Lakers a 2-0 lead. The Magics C Lee scores a three pointer at 10:00 to give Orlando a 3-2 lead. Its 4-4 at 9:05 with Howard going 1-2 on the FT's, and later in the game the FT's will be a difference maker. The first quarter was good with both teams playing toe to toe like two fighters sparing. Odom gives LA the lead at 8-7 at 7:30. The Magics Turkoglu scores next to give Orlando a 9-8 lead at 7:10 (710 am ESPN Radio I have been listening to that station all week).
One thing I noticed about the Magic is that they have a lot of players that used to play in the West, and those players are familiar with the Lakers style of play. Turkoglu is from the Kings, Alston is from the Rockets, Lewis used to play for the Sonics, and Pietrus used to play for the Warriors. Alston scores a three pointer to give the Magic a 12-8 lead at 6:13. Orlando had 3 turnovers to LA's 0 at this point. Kobe scores next on Pietrus off the glass and the Lakers down one 12-11. The teams opened this game going toe to toe. Alston comes back again and scores to give Orlando a 14-11 lead.
On defense Howard blocks T Ariza on the attempt and Alston on the Offensive end scores on a hook shot "sweet" lay up from the right side baseline play Magic up five 16-11. Lamar comes right back for 2 at 3:52 its 16-13.
The Lakers front court early gets into foul trouble with Bynum and Gasol each getting two early fouls. Gasols second foul comes at 3:44 in the first quarter, and on the FT's, D Howard misses both fouls shots. "I disagreed with the foul call on Gasol from that play".
The Magic with a five point lead at 18-13, MVP Kobe Bryant scores on a facial for his 3rd FG early to put the score 18-15. The Lakers Lamar Odom gets called for his 2nd foul and after the foul called, T Ariza while on the floor slams the ball in frustration and gets called for the "T" as the ball goes up high in the air. At this juncture all Lakers shot misses went to Howard as Howard had 11 rebounds with 1 point and 3 block shots at the 2:48 mark. Howard goes 1-2 on the FT's from Lamars foul to give the Magic a 20-15 lead. Jordan Farmar comes into the game off the bench. Kobe Bryant scores on 2 FT's, and the Lakers down three 20-17 at 1:39 Kobe now 5-5 at the foul line. Before the Game, Kobe was practicing his free throws, or putting more emphasis on the FT's after missing key free throws Game 3. Turkoglu scores next on a nice move Magic 22- Lakers 17. Walton for LA comes back, draws the foul on the shot, but makes only 1/2 on the FT's at 1:03 its 22-18.
The big play man for Orlando on Offense was Alston scoring next on a floater for his 9th point early to give the Magic a six point lead 24-18. Every play and Every Player for the Lakers made a contribution for the team Thursday Night. Mbenga on Defense gets the block shot, and on the offensive end, Kobe scores his 4th FG to make the score 24-20. In this game, minutes were important for Lakers bench players to come out and performs as the front court all had 2 fouls. The Magic outscore the Lakers by four 24-20 in the first quarter.
In between the first and second quarters, Coach Jackson on the brief TV interview complained of "bogous calls". Kobe Bryant carried the Lakers early going 4-7 from the field, and the rest of the Lakers were at 3-13 FG's.
2nd Quarter: With Orlando leading 26-20, D Howard on Offense gets called for an offensive three seconds. The Magic at this juncture had 7 turnovers to LA's 1. Walton scores next at 10:36 to bring LA within four 26-22. This 2nd quarter was an in your face kind of quarter with both teams going back and forth scoring hoops. The Magic's J Redick scores off the dribble giving Orlando a 28-22 lead at 10:18. J Powell for LA misses and Howard on that rebound gets his 12th board.
P Gasol scores his first FG at 9:35 in the 2nd quarter to bring LA within four at 28-24. Battie scores next for Orlando, his only two points of the game, and the Magic lead 30-24 at 9:15. The Magic continued the hot shooting from the field from the last game. J Farmar misses on the three point attempt, and at this point of the game, LA is 0-6 at 3 point FG's. Turkoglu scores next for his 12th point now is at 4-4 FG's at 8:26 the score at 32-24. The crowd started to get loud in the game. P Gasol comes right back to score for LA brings the score at 32-26. Orlando gets a nice play on offense with the alihoop play, and the largest lead of the game for Orlando now comes at 34-26 comes at the 7:56 mark.
Inserted into the ball game is Gortat #13. When Gortat first game into the game, I started to say "who is this guy Gortat, what is he doing on the floor in this game"? What a stiff and as I started to laugh next thing I knew Gortat provides some momentum coming off the bench. His appearance was funny that's all. Luke Walton next draws the foul, and on the first attempt, he misses the free throw. I cussed at the screen on that play especially with Kobe shooting foul shots before the game. Luke just flat out missed that shot, and I was offended by it. Luke goes 1/2 at the FT strip and at 7:49 the score is at 34-27. The Magics Lewis scores next on a quick 3 for his first long range shot gives the Magic a ten point lead 37-27 at 7:37. At 7:18 Fisher comes back into the game. LA scores only 9 points off Orlando turnovers.
Gasol starts to ball scores next for LA at 6:29 its 37-29. Big play for the Lakers on the Kobe Defense, he passes to Gasol and on the spin move left, Pau scores. Lamar Odom gets his 3rd foul next play as Turkoglu draws Lamar in the air on the pump fake.
Lakers call time out. Coach Jackson tells his team to stop the ball, and complains that its all penetration. At 5:47, the score at 38-29, the Lakers get a needed boost from A Bynum next where he scores his first FG to bring the score at 38-31 now at 5:23. The next play I almost flipped my lid, or got off my seat in disgust when Gortat scores on the slam dunk from the Redick pass at 5:00. The crowd is going wild in Orlando brings the score 40-31. Gortat or Gourmet? I had a problem with that dunk by Gortat, and I couldn't believe it. What the hell was that? Turkoglu comes back for Orlando and scores on the fast break, and the score goes to 42-31 at 4:29.
Soon after, I guess I wasn't the only person that was upset about what was happening on the floor, Coach Jackson gets called for a "T". Redick makes the 1 FT and the score is now 43-31 a twelve point lead. Gasol gets on the line next for LA and goes 1-2 brings the score to 43-32. Next play for LA was exciting as Gasol grabs the rebound passes to T Ariza and Trevor passes it to Kobe and Kobe scores on the 3 pointer brings the score closer to 43-35. That 3 was the beginning of the momentum switch as Orlando had the momentum, and LA just quieted the crowd. Bynum gets his 3rd foul at 3:52. At 2:46 Howard has 13 rebounds.
Orlando leads 47-37 at 49.2 seconds left in the quarter Fisher fouls. Howard again scores down low, and the score is at 49-37, and for LA Derek Fisher misses the 3 pointer on that possession as the 2nd quarter was drawing near. Orlando gets the last shot attempt, but Alston misses on that attempt, and the Lakers got out of that quarter down 12 points 49-37. The Magic outscore the Lakers 25-17 in the 2nd quarter.
Orlando was going for the even 2-2, and LA was going for the 3-1 series lead/cushion. At this point, Orlando had all the momentum. But the Lakers still had something special to do, and the performance we all saw Thursday Night was one of the most memorable basketball games one will always look back to. This game was about guts, and conditioning would be the biggest factor in this series later on during this contest.
Fisher scores the first basket for LA on the long range jumper, and LA within 10 the score at 49-39. Right back comes D Howard scoring on the hard slam dunk at 10:26, the Magic lead 51-39. On the AM 570 KLAC Broadcast, Spiro Didas says:"The Lakers have been pushed around tonight". Ariza makes a big play next gets the steal and on that play dunks it for his first basket at 9:40 the score 51-41. This was a good basketball game.
The Lakers defense starts to pick it up, and A Bynum on the good D gives LA back the ball, and Kobe Bryant drains the 3 pointer. How sweet that shot looked, and the score is 51-44. The Lakers are now coming back at this juncture, and you can feel it as a Lakers fan what was happening. Fisher fouls Lee at 8:58 for his third foul, and Lee goes 1-2 brings the score to 52-44. The free throws missed for Orlando started to add up, and rather than correcting that flaw in their game, they just didn't make the FT's. Sometimes, it looked like Shaq was at the line all the time, and one would forget that Shaq started his career at Orlando, and for laughs, it looked like deja vu, or at least Lakers fans would say that now they know where Shaq got his hideous free throw abilities and that is from Orlando.
On the Lakers comeback, Ariza scores again. This time Trevor scores on the floater, and LA closing in 52-46. The crowd now getting antsy. Turkoglu makes an incredible shot next falling out of bounce as the broadcaster on ABC said "an impossible shot" brings the score 54-46. Turkoglu for his 17th point was playing really hard this game like he has all series.
Another big play comes by T Ariza scoring next on the open 3=Good, and the score is now 54-49 at 7:58, and there is a time out for Orlando. Ariza scores 7 points in the 3rd quarter to lift the Lakers goes 1/2 at the FT line for his 8th point brings the score to 54-50. This is when the whole United States were able to watch what is Lakers basketball, and what Lakers basketball is all about. Bynum rebounds the Redick miss, and Ariza again comes through scoring on a 3 pointer "a left baseline 3" is good brings the score to 54-53. The Lakers balling like a wrecking machine, and I jumped out of my seat saying that's what's up, that's what's up! Trevor Ariza scores his 11th point in the quarter only 5.5 minutes in. Bynum scores next for LA on 2 FT's, and the Lakers have the lead at 55-54. The Lakers go on a 18-5 run get their first lead since early in the game now up 1 point at 5:38. Kobe misses on the offensive end next going 6-16 FG's at this point. Alston scores for Orlando next for his 11th point on the lay up to give the Magic a 57-56 lead at 4:59.
Sometimes it is the little things that make a difference later on in the game when the game is close. The next play for the Lakers is huge as Derek Fisher on the hustle play for the loose ball falls to the floor and after grabbing the ball calls time out at 4:39. Kobe makes the T next brings the score to 58-56 at 4:26. LA defense next forces Orlando to a three seconds call at 3:17.
Orlando was still playing, and this game 4 continued its path of the back and forth game with these two teams going toe to toe, and giving everything they had. One could appreciate the effort of the Orlando Magic. After playing these guys this many games, I don't see how Lebron James didn't shake the hands of the Magic players after the Eastern Conference Finals Series. The Magic have a lot of character. The next play was explosive for the Magic on the fast break, its Pietrus passing to Alston back to Pietrus for the score and the game is even 58-58. Fisher misses another 3 pointer (that is how I wrote the footnote). Gasol rebounds Alston's missed lay up. This was a back and forth game.
This game was all about who wants it more Game 4?
Lamar scores next for LA on the 3 pointer for his 7th point, and that brings the score to 61-58, the Lakers largest lead at 2:39 in the 3rd quarter. Redick comes back and converts on the 3 pointer, and that looked good evens the game at 61-61 at 2:09. Ariza has 13 points and what a play between Ariza and Kobe gives the Lakers a 63-61 lead. The next play was huge. Kobe steals the ball from Howard as he fought for the ball after the rebound, and takes the ball away from Howard at 1:28. That was the play where the Champion wanted the Game more, and that was the defining play for the Lakers under that crowd noise competing in this series. Howard and Kobe are talking to each other not taunting, just talking smack as the players walked to the other end for Kobe to shoot 2 FT's. Kobe converts on the 2 FT's brings the score to 65-61. Kobe is at 8-8 at the FT line.
With the Lakers up by 4 points, Howard passes it to Pietrus and scores brings the game to 65-63. Howard gets his 18th rebound on the Odom miss. Fisher steals the basketball giving Orlando its 16th turnover. The Lakers in the 3rd quarter played some feisty defense. Kobe Bryant holds the ball during the last stretch of the 3rd quarter, yo yo's up and down, leans in, pump fakes, and scores as he draws the contact at 4.7, and the Lakers lead 67-63. The Lakers lead at the end of the 3rd quarter 67-63. The Lakers outscore the Magic 30-14 in the 3rd quarter.
The Lakers going for the 3-1 Series lead in the 4th score first on a Lamar Odom ali oop to bring the score 69-63 the largest lead for LA. With the score at 69-65, D Fisher scores on a drive to the basket to bring the score at 71-65 at 10:15. Turkoglu draws the contract on Lamar Odom as Lamar fouls him at the three point line. Turkoglu makes 2/3 FT's and the score at 71-67 at 9:54. Farmar comes into the game, and Fisher goes out of the game for the Lakers.
Every defeat the Lakers have had in the post season, after that defeat the Lakers come back to win the next game. Pietrus comes running hard on the fast break, and slips and falls on the next play for the Magic. Ariza hustled on D on that play getting back to challenge the play. With the Lakers up by 4 points, Lamar gets his 5th foul at 9:07, and the score at 71-67. There is a Time out on the floor at 8:53 in the 4th quarter/Game.
Off that time out, Luke Walton converts on the 12 foot jumper in the key a step in front of the foul line to bring the score at 73-67. Pietrus grabs the momentum next scoring a three pointer, and that was a huge basket for Orlando to get the crowd back into the game brings the score 73-70 at 7:46. That 3 pointer gives Pietrus his 11th point. Kobe comes back and scores with Pietrus all over him, a facial with his foot on the three point line converts to bring the score at 75-70 at 7:10.
Both Andrew Bynum and Lamar Odom have 5 fouls at 7:02 left in the game. Pietrus goes 1/2 at the FT line at 7:02. Now under 7 minutes left, at 6:46, its a 2 point game as Howard actually makes his FT's that round. Kobe misses down the offensive floor for the Lakers. Both teams players are playing with a lot of guts. Fatigue starts to play a factor in this game, and you could tell that fatigue was affecting Orlando more than LA at this juncture. This is why you condition your team in the preseason and during the season, and that is what gave the Lakers that boost in the last minutes of this game to remain competitive. Turkoglu misses an easy hoop from about the foul line key at 6:00. That was a play where fatigue looked like, or it seemed to be playing a factor now as Magic players were getting tired. The basket closed in, and it got smaller as the game progressed. That hot shooting the last 7 quarters, maybe more started to change, and the law of averages came into play at this point of the game with Orlando now missing from the outside.
Gasol on the next play misses on the spin move, and fatigue started to take its toll on Gasol at this juncture. After that miss, Pau really sucked it up the rest of the game. Pietrus comes back next and scores on Kobe, and draws the foul. This evens the contest at 75-75, and Pietrus converts the FT to give the Magic a one point lead 76-75 at 5:35. "Its nervous time" for sure. Pietrus was a big difference for the Magic able to bounce back from the Lakers onslaught of hoops. Pietrus kept challenging the Lakers, and that was the first Magic lead in the quarter.
It's crunch time. So far it has been a great series. Orlando's players are strong on every play. The Lakers are down 3 points 82-79 at 3:02, and like I said before conditioning is very important, and is playing a factor in the game now for both teams. Howard has 15 points, 20 rebounds, and 8 blocks.
Trevor Ariza makes yet another big play and basket scoring on the 3 pointer with 1 second left on the 24 second shot clock evens the game at 82-82. Ariza has 16 2nd half points, and what a big time shot.
Turkoglu scores next on the 3 pointer, the game going back and forth, for his 23rd point gives Orlando an 85-82 lead.
Under 2 minutes in the game, Gasol comes through big blocking Howard holding on defense. LA doesn't score from that, and right back comes Turkoglu again converting on the drive for a lay up after faking the 3 pointer gives Orlando an 87-82 lead. The Lakers call time out. Orlando now has all the momentum. Game 4?. 1:30 left, Kobe draws the blocking foul, but its not a shooting foul as Orlando had a foul to give. No calls on Orlando. At 1:14, Kobe misses the 3 pointer, and its now under a minute to play. Fisher on defense rebounds the miss, passes the ball to Kobe, Kobe to Gasol scores, and its now 87-84. That was a crucial play by the Lakers starters on defense, and then to quickly convert the FG.
Lakers defense, Kobe fouls Howard to put him at the free throw line at 11.1. Howard misses the first FT. Then Howard misses the second FT missing both FT attempts, and at 10.4 seconds to play the Lakers call time out with a chance to tie. Kobe has 28 points going 9-26 FG's, and 8-8 FT's.
The Lakers take the ball out full court, and the pass goes to Trevor Ariza where he splits the defense dribbling up court passes it to Derek Fisher on the right side, and without hesitation, Derek Fisher pulls up for 3, and makes it at 4.6 to even the score at 87. Jamestowncalif.com going wild, and the entire SoCal neighborhoods just erupted person by person all Lakers fans. Derek Fisher on that play just pulls up and its good from the right side on Nielson for his 1st 3 pointer in the game. Only Michael Jordan and Robert Horry have more 3 pointers made than Derek Fisher in the playoffs.
After the time out, the Lakers hold on defense, as Pietrus had a chance to win the game at the buzzer, but does not convert, and with the score even at 87, we are going to Overtime. What a tremendous play by Derek Fisher, and what a comeback by the Los Angeles Lakers after being down by 12 points at half time to come back and force the OT. The Magic outscore the Lakers 24-20 in the 4th quarter. That was a big basket for the Lakers, and Derek Fisher comes through big time. That is why we are Lakers fans.
Its Overtime at 87-87. Howards FT misses were crucial to give the Lakers a chance to even the score. LA at Orlando Game 4 turned out to be one of the most exciting, well played, emotional, and memorable games I have watched in the NBA Finals history. Kobe scores the first hoop for LA in OT, its 90-89 Magic. Kobe also makes the second hoop converting on back to back baskets gives the Lakers a 91-90 lead at 3:25 in OT. Lakers D was aggressive still, and Gasol takes the ball from Lewis.
Under 3 minutes in OT, Kobe misses on the drive play. This is where fatigue did play a factor in the game for Orlando as Howard drives inside, gets the 2nd attempt chance, and Lewis misses on the drive next. Players were fatiguing. Under 2 minutes now, Kobe air balls the next shot attempt, and the whole United States saw it with the shot clock down to 5 seconds. Somebody left the Arena dprr Open? Its 91-90, and on that play it looked like the ball was touched by the Magic defender, but it was not called.
At 1:39 left in OT, Fisher grabs Howard as he was out of position gets called for the foul. Turkoglu misses on the drive, but on the loose ball play is fouled by Fisher for his 5th foul. At 1:27 Howard at the line for 2 FT's at 5-12 FT's misses the first, and then makes the second free throw, and the score is even at 91-91 with 1:20 in OT. Howard missing 7 FT's in a row and the Magic missing 15 in the game.
Next Ariza drives, misses, and Gasol taps the loose ball back to the back court, the Lakers at 1:01 call time out.
Both teams are fatiguing. Its LA ball. Orlando players at this juncture look like they are getting tired, or are tired. Kobe with 32 points misses, Gasol hustles for the loose ball, and Nielson gets called for the foul. Lakers ball.
And who said that lightning doesn't strike twice in the same place? Derek Fisher with the game even at 91-91 at 31.3 seconds left pulls up for a 3 pointer, and its GOOD. That Hoop I screamed louder than I would have seeing a stage dancer take off her top. Derek Fisher on the high arch top of the key attempt converts, and after Fisher makes the basket that smile came out. All of us were smiling after that basket Mr. Fisher. Kobe passes to Fisher and once again Derek Fisher comes through to bring the score 94-91. It's 96-91 after a three point shot attempt that was missed by Orlando, Turkoglu taps the ball back, and Gasol gets the ball and scores all alone on the dunk from the breakaway play an uncontested deuce.
At 21.6 seconds left, the Lakers D comes through again, and Pau Gasol gets the pass from Ariza and he dunks it at 3.4. Pau Gasol, What's up? I am going wild on Fisher's 3 pointers. Players have to be separated after Gasol gets fouled on that play. Pietrus gives Gasol a hard foul on that dunk play for the exclamation point. Gasol misses 1 FT, and the score goes 99-91. The Los Angeles Lakers hold the Magic Game 4 to win 99-91 in OT in one of the most memorable NBA Finals Games of all time. Derek Fisher is the MVP of the game for those 2 big 3's.
The difference of the game was the Lakers had a lot of second chance shot attempts. The Lakers were active on the offensive glass. The missed free throws by Orlando were another key difference. And the Lakers came through on Defense when they needed to. The play where Kobe Bryant took the ball away from Howard was huge, and the play where kobe fouled Howard to put him at the line at 11.1 also were big plays for the Los Angeles Lakers. The Lakers win Game 4 by Eight points 99-91 to move 3-1 in the Series. Trevor Ariza's 2nd half performance was huge for the Lakers as Ariza makes 3 consecutive attempts which two shots were 3 point field goals. The Lakers are One Game away from the NBA Title.
Kobe Bryant leads all scorers with 32 points. Ariza and Gasol each scored 16 points, Fisher scores 12 points, Lamar scores 9, Walton and Bynum each score 6 points, and Josh Powell scores 2 points. The Lakers 38-91 FG's at 41.8%, 8-23 at 3 point FG's at 34.8%, 15-20 FT's at 75%. It came down to offensive rebounds where LA gets 10 to Orlando's 7. There were 12 lead changes, and 10 times this game was even. The Lakers outscore the Magic 12-4 in OT to win 99-91 Game 4. The Lakers go into Game 5 Sunday at Orlando looking to close out the series.

This is a play by play synopsis
After Game 4, I will never talk smack about Derek Fisher again because those were some clutch three pointers. I have not seen that since Horry made that three to win against the Kings on the B Shower day 2002.

Los Angeles at Houston Game 6 West Semifinals Now Tied at 3 by www.JamestownJupiter.com

Kobe on Jupiter
http://www.fannation.com/blogs/post/386738-lakersrockets-game-4

Los Angeles at Houston Thursday Night turns out to be a Spectacular Game for the Houston Rockets as Houston defeats Los Angeles 95-80. For the Rockets to come back from that 40 point defeat at Los Angeles now return the favor win by 15 and regardless of the amount of points a team wins by, a game is a game. Now it comes down to One Game, that is Sunday at Staples Center with both the Lakers and Rockets winning 3 games a piece.
This Post's references are all from the KLAC Radio Broadcast with Spiro Didas and Michael Thompson (former Lakers player used to back up Abdul Jabbar and was a part of Lakers success under Coach Riley) as the play by play and color broadcasters for the Los Angeles Lakers in their road forum/purple uniforms.
http://www.570klac.com/main.html I was only able to listen to the game on the radio, and these posts notes are from that broadcast audio.
This game was mostly all Rockets with Houston taking the 6-0 lead then building that lead to 17-1. The Rockets jumped all over the Lakers early in the first quarter. The quickness of the guards got the crowd into this game after those hoops. The score at 21-5 after Gasol scores 2. The Lakers were already down big in this quarter and Spiro Didas couldn't have said it better: "A Nightmare 1st Quarter for the Lakers". "This is the exact same start to this game as last Sunday". Lakers go down by 12 points to end the first quarter with Houston outscoring LA 27-15.
The game was still early, and there were three quarters to go, and it seemed that the Lakers would be able to come back from this deficit somehow. It starts with Lakers Defense, and it was important for the Lakers to contain the Rockets outside shooters, and the penetration with Yao out of the line up. The Lakers have the size advantage. Kobe Bryant scores on a 19ft. jump shot to bring the score at 27-17 with Kobe at 3-9 FG's.
The Lakers trailed as many as 18 points. The game's turning point for both teams comes after Shannon Brown makes 2 FT's to bring the score 27-19. Houston makes a Three, the combo passing of Battier/Lowry quickly gave the Rockets an 11 point lead at 30-19. At 10:41 Kobe misses for the Lakers, and Scola gets his 8th rebound early. It was back to back 3's for Houston making the score 33-19. Kobe shooting was at 3-11 FG's. LA get a hoop from Farmar with the side step penetration for his 8th point, and Farmar has been big in the playoffs this series to bring the score at 33-21. Lakers down 14 at 7:43 in the 2nd. Houston's players continue to make their Field Goals in the 2nd going on another spurt score from 37-25 to 39-25 to 42-29 to 44-29 at 3:09. Kobe scores next for LA driving through two defenders to bring the score 44-31. With 2:41 in the 2nd LA Field Goal Percentage was at 29%. There was some late action in that quarter with Kobe getting a block shot, and Scola's Production on the defensive boards, that was good back and forth basketball between LA/Houston with Houston at a Must Win Situation. The Rockets go up from 46-31 to 47-33, and the big hoop by Brooks on the 3 before halftime which that stunned the Lakers. The Lakers are down at Halftime 52-36. Houston FG's at 51%, LA at 31% the first two quarters Game 6 at Houston. The Rockets outscored the Lakers 25-21 in the 2nd Quarter.
The Lakers gained some momentum to start the 3rd quarter going on a 7-0 run. The Lakers go on a 9-0 run with Kobe scoring his 14th point on 2 FT's at 23 minutes making the score 52-45. The Lakers were right back in it, and you can feel the tension on the other side. How would Houston respond? Well this was where the Rockets Players had to really perform out there to force that Game 7 because at this juncture of the game, LA had Houston where they wanted them, and it was up to the defense.
The Players of the game for Houston go to Scola and Brooks. Scola gets his 9th rebound at 8:50 in the 3rd, and then on the other end scores to end that 9-0 run to bring the score at 54-45. That was a big turnaround in my opinion. The Lakers T Ariza makes a pass to Kobe and Kobe spinning in the air beyond the 3 point arch converts the three pointer, and LA is drawing closer with the score at 54-48. The Lakers were down by 16 points at the half, and are now within 6 points at 8:00, so the Lakers had there opportunities in this game to really turn things around. Scola was at 20 points and 10 rebounds.
Artest and Gasol jump ball it and the Lakers control the tap. After the 7:56 mark, it was all Lakers where the Lakers go on a 14-2 continue that prior run to bring the score from 54-50 to 54-52. Ariza makes a steal on Battier and passes up to Gasol for the floater. The Lakers fans now getting antsy. Kobe makes 2 FT's to go 6-6 FT's and 7-18 FG's and 20 points. Keeping up with all these stats, and I don't see how LA let this game get away. The Rockets played well under a lot of pressure including the onslaught of that 14-2 Lakers run with a combination of offense/defense/ and hoops by LA. The big sing came next after the booing of some crowd participators in Houston when Landry scores the hoop, is fouled, and makes the three point play to bring the score to 57-52. The Lakers having the opportunity to tie after the Gasol rebound the other end, and on Defense gives up the three point play at 5:29.
Kobe:"Pull Up from the Right Post: Good" score at 57-54. Battier comes back to score now at 59-54. These teams were fighting every position. Then the Rockets A Brooks makes another 3 pointer this time from the right corner and that one hurt as the score jumps up Rockets plus eight 62-54 at 4:17. LA calls timeout after that play. That 16-2 Lakers run now the Rockets answered back. Spiro Didas:"The margin of error is so small". M Thompson:"this is a game of runs". LA played good defense at times forcing Houston to 11 turnovers.
The score jumps from 62-54 to 62-56, and the Lakers down 6. Scola comes back and makes a bank shot for his 22nd point to bring the score at 64-56. Houston would not let up on the offensive end Thursday Night, and this might have been there all around best game as a team against the Lakers this series. Kobe scores next where he rises and brings it down makes the score at 64-58. Its 66-58 at 2:38. Odom misses the shot next, and Gasol keeps it alive and Odom gets the score on that 2nd chance opportunity its 66-60. Houston scores again next to keep that cushion now at 68-60. The Lakers come right back with J Farmar scoring a three pointer for his third 3 and with :70, its 68-63. Artest comes back to score to bring the score back to 70-63. Gasol spins away and floats it in at :50 to bring the score within five at 70-65. Brooks comes back and challenges Gasol and scores on the lay up next at :30, the score at 72-65. That was a big hoop. The Lakers/Rockets series, this quarter, the two teams players were challenging each other on the offensive end for hoops. Rockets get all the momentum breaks Game 6 as Scola scores on a 17 ft. jump shot good before the end of the 3rd Quarter. S Didas:"Everyone rises to their feet" and with the score 74-65, the Lakers were down 9 points. The Lakers outscored the Rockets 29-22 in the 3rd Quarter.
The Lakers got within 2 points, but the Rockets never paniced says M Thompson color broadcaster and former player for the Lakers now on the KLAC 570AM broadcast.
When the game is on the line is when you need to have all your key players out there on the floor. Coach Jackson chose to sit Kobe Bryant out to begin the 4th Quarter down by 9 points. Lakers close within seven with Gasol scoring with the left hand on Landry (not Tom Landry) 74-67. Landry comes back at 10:40 and the score now goes to 76-67. At 10:32 Sasha comes out of the game, and inserted into the game is S Brown for LA. Lakers get a break on the next possession as Walton rebounds a Farmar misses, Gasol misses on the 2nd attempt, but on the third and fourth attempt, Lamar gets a slam dunk on the rebound Lakers down by seven 76-69 at 9:30 in the 4th.
Kobe is still on the bench up till the 6:56 minute mark, so that was 5:04 minutes he on the bench. Kobe and Artest get a bit tangled, as Kobe straight arms him, but no harm no foul, some contact as Artest's face ran into Kobe's motion (total Lakers analysis, the play was not that bad, and Artest smiled about it). It is 79-71, and Houston's Landry gets a stuff jam and is fouled catching Gasol out of position on that play. Landry misses the FT. At 6:51 and the score 81-71, Kobe misses the pull up. Landry starts to play strong down the stretch getting fouled and making 1/2 FT's to bring the score at 82-71.
Odom pulls up from 22 ft., and scores, its now 82-73. Lakers need the D. 4:56, the score at 82-73. There is a time out on the floor. (there is Rocky Music in the intermission I noticed http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aJmr5CKY73M)
Landry hurt LA with those drives, dunks, and points from the FT's. Landry comes back on the step back jumper is good. M Thompson said that the play look liked Otis Thorpe 84-73. Kobe comes back to score his 29th point to bring the score at 84-75 with 4:20. Spiro Didas on the Lakers: "incapable of coming up with the stops defensively". Time Out Lakers down 9 at 84-75. Brooks scores next for Houston on a shot he makes stepping back to bring the score at 86-75. Kobe misses the 3 on the Lakers end. Game 7? I thought to myself. Brooks scores again an 18 ft. jumper and that kid sure does play with a lot of heart, and its 88-75. At 2:59, you can hear the "Beat LA" chants in the crowd at Houston. "Its been Houston's Night.
89-75. Kobe scores next for LA on a running shot to make the score 89-77 at 2:20. Lamar Odom fouls out with 8 points, 14 rebounds in 28 minutes. Brooks makes 2 FT's at 2:09 91-77. Bynum has sat out all the 4th quarter. Kobe misses the 3 pointer next at 1:55 its 91-77. Kobe makes 1/2 FT's for his 32nd point on 11-27 FG's. Brooks has 29 points. Didas: "The Lakers are going to have nightmares of this arena all summer long". "Incredibly surprising series in so many facets", "Who would have thought Houston would display the grit playing to win, 1 game anything can happen. "Everybody is shocked that there will be a Game 7?". With the score going from 91-78 to 93-78 to 93-80 at :32, and the final score Houston Defeats LA Game 6 95-80. What a Spectacular Game for Houston.
Lakers leading scorers: Kobe Bryant scores 32, Gasol 14, Farmar 13 on 30-84 35.7% FG's, 5-23 21.7% 3 point FG's. For the Rockets team leaders are Brooks 24 points, Scola 24 points, 12 rebounds, Landry 15, Artest 14. Plus and Minus for Houston: +19 Landry, +19 Artest, +12 Brooks, +8 Battier. For the Lakers plus/minus: -15 Gasol, -13 Bryant, -13 Walton, -8 Walton, -9 Ariza. There were no lead changes, and zero times this game was tied. Houston led all the way. ref http://www.nba.com/games/20090514/LALHOU/boxscore.html
For the Lakers, it all comes down to 1 game. The last game 7 for LA was in 2006. Game 7 at Staples Center Sunday Houston 3/LA 3.
The Winner will advance to play Denver for the Western Conference Finals. It's Nervous Time for Lakers Fans.

Lakers/Rockets Series at 2-2 Mothers Day Game 4 Los Angeles at Houston

Kobe on Jupiter
Title: Do the Lakers have the Rockets Series under Control?
http://www.fannation.com/blogs/post/386738-lakersrockets-game-4
Game 4 at Houston, Texas in front of a very antsy and excited crowd, the Los Angeles Lakers went into Game 4 going for that 3-1 series lead, but instead it was the Rockets that came out as the better team Sunday and this series is now tied at 2-2 with LA being defeated by Houston Final Score 99-87. Yao Ming's injuring Game 3 had Hayes in the starting line up for the Rockets game 4. Many people had this outlook that because Ming would be out of the line up that the Lakers ought to have an easy wrapping up of this series. If you like the Outside Game, or players making hoops from downtown, like Freddie Brown, this is one game to remember for Rockets fans, while Lakers fans luckily it was not worse.
Title: Do the Lakers have the Rockets Series under Control?
This game was the pivot game for both teams. For the Lakers winning this game would mean having a good opportunity to close out the series game 5 at Staples Center. For the Rockets, the teams backs were up against the wall. To add, the feistiness of both teams players in this series had a lot of sports fans anticipating this game to watch the ABC 7 Broadcast Mothers Day. Game 3, Derek Fischer was suspended, and the Lakers won the game anyways. It seemed that his return wearing the white head ban was something that pumped up the Rockets Guards early in this game as Houston jumps all over the Lakers from the onset in the first quarter take the 26-9 lead.
The Lakers were down by double digits early in this contest. For the Rockets, Shane Battier makes his 4th three pointer for his 15th point to bring the Rockets 50-35 up on the Lakers at 1:28 till halftime. The Rockets largest lead was at 19 points now at 15, but the game was still early, and the Lakers still had an opportunity to go on the runs needed to get back in this ball game. Before the end of the half, it still looked promising as Lakers fans laugh to themselves real quick when Cook was inserted into the game for the Rockets. Right away, the Lakers started attacking that area of the floor where Cook was defending, as the Lakers go inside and get a hoop. Kobe scores two outside shots in two straight possessions, then he misses the next one with on that 3rd straight attempt.
The Texas Crowd was very excited as Houston was going for the series tie. Brooks had 11 early first half points, and later he would up that as the Rockets guards Sunday ate the Lakers guards up offensively & defensively for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The score 54-36 at the half, so the Lakers down by 15 had opportunities to get closer, but instead Brooks scoring late in the half gave the Rockets that halftime lead, and most of all confidence going into the locker room with those late points. The Lakers were outscored 29-16 in the 1st quarter, and 25-20 in the 2nd quarter.
Yao Ming was interviewed at the half, and the prognosis for Ming is that he will miss the rest of the playoffs from the injury to his left foot which is a hairline fracture.
From the opening of the 3rd quarter, it seemed that the Lakers defense was a bit confused on how to play the guards of Houston. Opening play for the Rockets, Brooks drives right in through the lane for the lay up to give the Rockets a 20 point lead at 56-36. This was the largest lead of the game, and the Rockets had the momentum to add to it.
Right now, "its live and die by the 3 pointer, or long range shot", and the Rockets gave one heck of an exhibition on shooting the basketball from the outside. That was a good basketball game for them, well played, and entertaining to watch good outside shooting considering the fact that Ming was out of the line up. That was a chance or risky strategy by the Coaching Staff of Houston, but it worked, and it seemed to have confused the Lakers Sunday. Kurt Rambis for the Lakers complained that LA had "No Effort at All" on Defense now the score at 38-56. Scola scores next for Houston for his 8th point, and on that play it looked like he challenged Fischer on the same spot of the floor where he was laid out Game 2 and converts the hoops at the spot on the swing pass to him. Houston going up big now at 61-38, the Lakers D was now apparent that allowing the Rockets the outside shots was not affective, and the team looked soft on getting up to the Rockets Shooters from downtown.
It gets worse as Gasol misses 2 free throws and you usually don't see that giving LA 4-10 FT's with 9:00 in the 3rd. Andrew Bynum was not the answer to the Lakers issues Sunday, and right when he came into the game at this point, the first thing he did was foul. Then Battier gets an offensive rebound on him. This was a possible turning point for LA on the loose ball from that play as Kobe gets the steal on Battier after he just got the ball, and Kobe dribbles all the way to make a "Sweat" move for 2 from the left side to bring the score at 61-40 at 8 minutes.
The Lakers still seemed to be always giving 100% although it was not working for them this game, and I thought that the ABC broadcasters were a little bit too hard, and not fully objective about what they were saying while the Rockets were looking good, and the Lakers not looking so good.
The key for the Rockets being successful this game against the Western Conference #1 Seed Los Angeles Lakers was that players were making three pointers at critical junctures of the game. Battier makes his 5th three pointer to give the Rockets a 64-40 lead. Then Brooks next play the three pointer really hurt the Lakers, and as a Lakers fan, it did hurt watching that rainbow go in as Brooks scores on the 3 from a hustle play, or second chance opportunity Battier created. At 6:55, the Lakers were now down by 27 points. That 3 from the left top part of the key for three really was a nice play for Houston, and that got the crowd really into this game. Winning this game for the Rockets means an automatic game 6 in Houston.
I would call this game's success for Houston: "the Outside Game". My buddy in Pittsburgh, that's California text me on the Sprint Phone asking me "where was the Lakers defense?" I text back with the reply from www.Jamestownjupiter.com: "In Vegas"! The score at 67-40.
Lamar Odom drives through the middle of the lane, and Battier gets right in front of the spot drawing a charge on Lamar, and on that play Lamar goes up flying seeming out of control then hits the deck on the fall. He was down for a few minutes while viewers were able to watch his fall on the replay in slow motion. Thats gotta hurt, and this game gets worse as Lamar gets a "T" (technical foul) as he's walking off to the bench from the substitution complaining of the charge call. The Rockets players all used their experience Sunday to do the little things to get into the Lakers minds on the floor and it worked to their advantage. This was a bad game for the Lakers, and Lakers players, coaches, and fans ought to be concerned now with the score going up. But the Lakers players never quit regardless of what the broadcasters, and KLAC 570AM broadcasters and listeners were saying.
Sasha makes a 3 pointer to bring the score to 68-43 at 5:38 in the 3rd. Lakers going on a spurt as Jordan Farmar goes all the way on a dribble drive lay up, nice play from a pass on a rebound from Powell on the other end brings the score to 68-45 at 4:30.
Battier makes two free throws for Houston 70-45 now. Lakers have a chance to come within 20 points with a Bynum rebound Farmar is stripped on the offensive end. Farmar came in with good energy and kept at it giving the Lakers a spark on the next play as he goes to the hole and gets fouled makes two free throws brings the score at 70-47 at 3:35. Then another 3 hurt the Lakers as Brooks scores again for his 22nd point now brings the score to 73-47. Every time the Lakers scored a couple of hoops, the Rockets would answer with a downtown hoop. Farmar comes back and makes a 3 pointer for the Lakers brings the score at 73-50 at 3:02 in the 3rd. Scola passes to Lowry for the Rockets score on the next possession brings the score back to 75-50.
In the time out, Houston Coach R Adelman tells his team to keep up the defensive intensity with the lead 77-50 with 2 minutes left in the 3rd, the Lakers are still in this game although the score is now as lopsided as the last election.
Speaking of lopsided, Ron Artest misses on the three, and he was the only bright spot for the Lakers fans as every time he shot, he would miss, and he was the only player doing any missing it seemed. Shannon Brown scores for LA next at 1:10 the score at 77-52.
Right when Lakers fans were laughing or commenting about Artest missing on the three's, he comes back on the next play and makes the outside shot on the line to bring the score 79-52 all Houston in the 3rd. Lakers come back to score now at 79-54. Then Brooks again scores on the outside shot to give the Rockets an 81-54 margin.
The play of the game, and most likely the Sports Networks Sundays Shows play of the day of all sports comes at 0.7 seconds left in the 3rd quarter. Artest passes the ball from the in bounce by the scorers table past half court to Brooks for the ali-oop score for 2. "An appropriate ending to the 3rd quarter" ref to the ABC broadcaster, and I would agree as the Lakers fell asleep on defense and allowed that basket from the out of bounce play that far, and the shortest player for Houston sneaks inside to get the bucket 83-54. The Rockets outscore the Lakers 29-18 in the 3rd quarter.
With all the criticism the broadcasters were giving the Lakers and using this game as a comparison game to other games where the Lakers were beat, the team doesn't get beat often, so that is why broadcasters or people whom are anti Lakers are now commenting. Do the Lakers have this Series under Control? I think they do still, and I don't see any comparison to the Celtics game 6 last season or the Portland game this season to this game. The Lakers could have folded, but they didn't, and in the 4th Quarter the team did put up the points needed to make the outcome or score respectable. Just people like to point out more Lakers flaws when they get defeated as the Lakers as a team have been consistent all season more so than any team anyways. We will see if the Rockets can continue to shoot the ball that good from the outside Game's 5 and 6, and if there is a 7th game.
Gasol scores for LA to bring the score 83-56. Gasol was not letting up as he grabs the rebound on the other end and scores 2 free throws on the offensive end to bring the score 83-58 at 11:14. Scola misses for Houston, and the Lakers Luke Walton scores a 3 pointer to bring the score to 83-61 at 10:33. Lowry scores for the Rockets next and that ends the Lakers 7-0 run score at 85-61. At 10:10 Gasol makes 1 of 2 as he is short on the second attempt at the free throw line brings the score to 85-62. Gasol scores again with the left hand nice move to the basket to bring the score to 85-64 at 8:35.
Kobe Bryant was really not in this game during this stretch or juncture, and it was other Lakers stepping up. The Lakers had been trailing by double figures since early in the first quarter, but the team still gave that effort where they didn't let the Rockets run up the score, and that is something not pointed out by anybody. Gasol scores again on a low post move at 7:40 left, the Lakers down under twenty 85-67. The Rockets Lowry makes a big play next at 7:13 makes the free throw on the three point play making a lay up getting fouled and one the score goes back to 88-67. That was a big play. Then the Rockets kept that momentum and pressure on the Lakers with Brooks scoring again for his 30th point now 90-67 with 6:40 left.
The Lakers had no Center or Power Forward Defense, did the suspension of Derek Fischer affect the Lakers mindset on how to defend the Rockets inside Sunday with Ming out of the Line up? The score is 90-69, and now everything is looking good for the Rockets, and not so looking good for the Lakers. As a Lakers fan, it did hurt watching this game, but I still think the team gave 100% although playing like CRAP today. Just one of those games, and you have a lot of winners and determine players for the Rockets so it is a difficult series. The Lakers now have to dig deep to come away with this series to advance.
Battier playing Defense on Kobe, and at 4:47 left in the game, Kobe only scored 2 points all 2nd half. 90-71, Gasol scores his 11th of the quarter for his 23rd point. Kobe passes to Sasha and Sasha scores the 3 pointer to bring the score 90-74 at 3:55. That was the closest the Lakers had been in the 2nd half. The Lakers were down as many as 29 points. Artest misses the next three point attempt now at 0-7 from 3 point land. The Lakers Luke Walton on the offensive end makes a terrible pass where the ball is deflected and the ball goes off the glass. Shannon Browns 3 pointer for LA at 2:48 puts the score at 90-77. The Lakers had outscored the Rockets 23-7 at this juncture. I thought the Lakers play on the offensive end was good in the 4th quarter, and coming back with those points were important not to get blown out like that worse.
Brooks makes 2 Free throws to bring the score 92-77 at 2:30. Gasol comes back and scores on the drive for LA to bring the score at 92-79. On the Defensive end for LA, Houston's Battier gets the loose ball on the play where he is fouled and converts 2. Gasol scores again for the Lakers and at 1:06 the score at 94-81.
At this juncture, Berry, the ABC Color Broadcaster criticized the Lakers saying "the score doesn't reflect the fact that the Lakers got blown out of here, and that the 4th quarter effort didn't matter or mean anything". I am going to have to disagree, and it did matter. First it matter for your advertisers ABC the fact the Lakers did come back late in the game so that viewers can at least watch a minute more of the game then they would have. Second it matters the fact that the score did not get run up more then it did.
Andrew Bynum's production was one of the key difference in the game why the Lakers were not successful in Houston Game Four with Bynum averaging 12 points the first three games, in Game 4 gets no points. The Final Score 99-87. The Lakers are defeated Game 4, and this series is now tied 2-2. Game 5 for the Lakers is a Must Win.
This game showed good character of all the Houston Rockets players, the city, their fans, and it is going to be interesting to see if the Rockets can continue to shoot the basketball from the outside like that. That game reminded me of the USA/USSR Semi Final Olympic Game in the 80's when David Robinson was playing by the style the Rockets played passing the ball in the perimeter quickly swinging the basketball, and making those three pointers in spectacular fashion.
P Gasol led the Lakers in scoring with 30 points, Kobe Bryant scores 15, Brown 14, and Farmar and Sasha each added 7 points a piece. The Lakers go 44.7% FG's (33-76), 11 turnovers. Plus and Minus for the Lakers:-10 for Bynum, -22 for Ariza, -22 for Odom, -12 for Kobe, and -26 for Derek Fischer obviously that white head ban distracted his play. For the Rockets, the players of the game go to Brooks and Battier mostly, but all the Rockets players did what they had to do to defeat the Lakers with Ming out of the line to bring this series to a 2-2 tie. Brooks scores 34 points, Battier 23, Lowry 12, Scola 11. The Rockets go 45% FG's (36-80), 10-29 from 3 point land at 34.5%. The Lakers go 8-18 at 3 point land at 44.4%. There were no lead changes, and 0 times was this game tied. The Lakers out score the Rockets 33-16 in the fourth quarter with the final score 99-87. Game 5 is a Must Win for the Los Angeles Lakers.

After the game on the KLAC 570AM Radio Broadcast, the question was given to the listeners and Lakers fans, was this one of the most embarrassing loses in Lakers history? I would say No. A game like this, pretty soon we will all forget about it, and it was not as embarrassing as the radio station, nor the broadcasters gave us. The Lakers to show the Rockets What's Up Game 5 at Los Angeles Tuesday May 12. Lakers at Houston Thursday May 14. We will see if there is a Game 7 if Necessary.

This was a game where I really missed the Lakers Announcers, and why didn't KCAL 9 broadcast Game 3? In My opinion, Bynum's play hurt the Lakers and was the difference why the Lakers were not successful Mothers Day Game 4. http://www.fannation.com/blogs/post/386738-lakersrockets-game-4 edited
