The Haiti Earthquake 2

Part 2
The magnificent work of the American Press agencies have given TV viewers a strong sense of what is going on there on the ground in Haiti since the Earthquake. Recently there have been some press releases on live videos taken while the Earthquake happened last Tuesday. One video shows people running out of the store while the Earthquake struck lasting longer than usual for a quake. Currently there continues to be a very large scale rescue effort where crews are still saving people from the rubble and wreckage of buildings. To add, there have been 50+ aftershocks since the 7.0 almost 2 weeks ago that have contributed to more destruction throughout the capital and outside Port Au Prince.
I think it's important for people to recognize the work effort of the CNN News Team starting with Anderson Cooper giving us reports daily from Haiti. His team consisting of journalists and doctors, and we have seen rescues of people taken place. Last Wednesday the ABC report confirmed that there were 200,000 deaths so far contributed to the Earthquake. CNN's Anderson Cooper reported that many people were being buried without being recorded. There were and are so many bodies/people that get buried, and nobody knows what he/her name is. Men, women, and children are all affected by this Natural Disaster caused by natural causes.
It's hard to survive without food or water more than 3-5 days, but there have been some survivors after the 7 day period. 1 week after the 7.0, an elderly woman said to be 84 years old was taken out of rubble and she was alive. The IDF rescued a 22 year old. A 5 year old made it and survived after a 1 week period. An 11 year old girl whom we saw rescued on TV reports later died from her wounds days later from her wounds and not receiving the proper medical attention, medications, and follow up care.
There are many survivors being reported being taken out of buildings that collapsed.
There is one thing that stands out currently. While there is a mass relief effort going on, and lots of money being donated for the relief effort through various organizations, the food and medicine are slow getting out to the people and needy. The infrastructure has been completed devastated. There are many injured people that need medical attention. There are many injured people dying from a result of needing just basic medical attention. There are preventable deaths which continues to happen where people die after being injured and simply need antibiotics, and other basic medical needs.
Many people have died because the lack of doctors and medicine. Many preventable deaths are occurring and being recorded, and this is a great tragedy. The fact that the hospitals have been filled with so many people, there is just not enough personnel able to get the needed medicine on the ground. However, the effort of the U.S. Military Forces, the Red Cross, the American Press, and many countries various agencies have been coordinating on getting as much help and supplies out there as possible.
It's a slow process. It's a big complex mission. There have been reported looting, chaos, and people stealing food from other people. Karl Penhaul of CNN reported a policeman shooting a suspected looter. In that report, there was no evidence that the two shot in the back were looting, and this report showed that there is an abuse of power by the local authorities. There are a lot of people suffering right now.
I think it's important for people to watch these reports Anderson Cooper is doing daily from Haiti, and you can log onto his website. Follow the links which will show so many news stories of real people being affected. Our neighbors the Haitians have endured a great Catastrophe. Other Networks I followed reports whom sent their teams to Haiti include from Los Angeles David Ono of ABC, and Brian Williams of NBC are all journalists giving us the best information. This Event needs to be shown to future generations I think on how we reacted after hearing of the news.
I am not sure if our technology is up to par to track and record these Earthquakes we have been witnessing. Haiti does sit on a fault line. However, it has been 200 years since the last major Earthquake occurred. What caused the friction to cause the 7.0? What is causing the 50 plus Aftershocks?
From CNN Gary Tuckman stated that he sleeps outside not inside because he has been jolted by some of these aftershocks. The aftershocks have terrified people more so since they have still have yet to get over the 7.0 that happened 12 days ago.
The work the Los Angeles County Fire and Rescue Crew continues to do is extraordinary and they have saved lives. The crews team up and come into a difficult situation and are using censored microphones, dogs, and are finding live survivors with their professional techniques of rescue. There have been many rescues. The Los Angeles County Fire and Rescue Crews are going building to building looking for survivors.
To add within 10 days, a company that specializes in building codes enforcement from Southern California is working now in Haiti to partake in the reconstruction of buildings. This company's crew people are going 10 buildings at a time to write down and record what went wrong with that certain building how it collapsed. This is a time for company's, engineers, and construction crews to have some work to make money while reconstructing this Island that needs Our Help.
There currently are supplies on the ground that needs to be dispersed into the societies. That process has been chaotic in that the infrastructure has been leveled and laid out throughout the island while the aftershocks continue to happen. Wednesday's aftershock was a big earthquake or big aftershock and you can hear people screaming when they occur.
This is a human tragedy. There are many people, thousands of people working from all walks of life trying to put in their effort to get people to donate money to the various organizations such as the International Red Cross.
The Israeli Field Medics have also been a key factor on saving lives in Haiti. The Field Medics are some of the most important personnel in great demand needed for the relief currently. This mission will continue to last for months.
People are living in tent cities in parks throughout the city. Many people are leaving the Capital. Many orphans are being able to leave the country. There are a lot of news stories that have yet to reach the attention it needs in this great disaster of 2010. There are hundreds of thousands of people that are homeless. All in all the Haitian people have showed great courage, gratitude, tough, and have been calm under these extraordinary circumstances with some isolated incidents of looting in this anarchy with little government presence, but there is mostly order.
Other Recent Earthquakes that people ought to take a look at I think include May 12, 2008 Sichuan Province,(Southwestern) China Earthquake at 7.9. The Sumatra Earthquake in Indonesia along with the Samoa Earthquake, and Peru Earthquake continue to be investigated individually by geologists. Here in California the week before the Haiti Earthquake there was a 5.9 Earthquake in Redlands, California then aftershocks in the Banning area. In Eureka, California 10 miles West offshore a 5.9 Earthquake occurred and it was felt violently through parts of Humboldt County.
On Friday according to Gary Tuchman of CNN he stated that he felt that there is some progress being made now happening in Haiti. The major Cathedral has been destroyed. The scenes and rescues continue. The Relief Effort is a strong act of human kindness of the many individuals working in this effort what we are seeing. The Port has just recently been re-opened which will be a key factor on getting more supplies into Haiti.
Former U.S. Presidents' George W. Bush and Bill Clinton continue to ask us Americans through TV ads and press conference speeches to donate cash money for the relief effort in Haiti.

1-26 50+ aftershocks average 4.5
President Preval of Haiti was not in the Presidential Palace at the time of the 7.0 Earthquake before its collapse and destruction.
Update: 2-10-10 There was a survivor found in the rubble of a building destroyed by the Earthquake 4 weeks after it occurred. It was called not possible. There have been many stories of abuses regarding orphins taken from Haiti into the United States by a religious group. While the Relief Effort Goes on, Medics and Tent small hospital style facilities on the ground have continued to do a tremendous job saving as many lives as possible. Tuberculousus (TB) ios now a major concern and health hazard going on amongst some people ill in the population. It has been confirmed yesterday on ABC News LA that 230,000 deaths are recorded from the Earthquake, and post earthquake.

National Election 2010 News/Massachusetts SEAT OPEN? Scott Brown Wins Massachusetts

James Republican Strategy/Seat Open? The State of the Union 3 Scott Brown Wins Massachusetts Senate Seat

The 2010 Massachusetts Senate Election has turned out to be one of the most recent historical National Elections ever. The death of Edward Kennedy allowed a Senate Seat up for grabs. In the Senate Race, the Democrat Martha Coakley ran to keep that Seat as D versus the Republican Scott Brown.
At 7pm Pacific Time, Martha Coakley conceded the race with 96% of the votes tallied. A Republican just won a State that has historically voted Democrat.
In Coakley's Speech she thanked former President Clinton and the Kennedy Family for their support in this "Endeavor". In the Concession Speech she said:"This is the deal". "Although its over tonight, the mission continues and the work goes on". That part of the speech sounded similiar to Edward Kennedy's concession speech in the 1976 Democratic Nomination for President.
Massachusetts of late have been successful on registering Independent Party voters that swayed this election. In a Democratic State, this seat has been held by Kennedy since 1972. Coakley indirectly blamed what was going on in National Politics why she was unsuccessful at winning this election. She said that "the anger of the American People", health care she mentioned, the 2 Wars, troops attitudes towards national issues when they come home were all key factors why the Voters voted the way they did.
Now after the New Jersey and Virginia Elections, does the recent Massachusetts Election prove that the National Policies of American leaders the last 12 months are a cause and effect reason why the voters are voting they way they have?
Coakley did blame health care indirectly.
Browns Victory Speech first starts out: "The Independent Voice of Massachusetts has spoken".
With 96% of the Votes tallied according to the AP Poll, Brown had 52% of the votes at 1,112,574 and Martha Coackley had 47% with 1,000,597. Coakley conceded before all the votes tallied.
"This is the People's Seat" said Brown in his Victory speech now going on.
This is a very historical election, a possible referendum on the Democratic Party. Independent Voters make the difference in the Seat for Senate in Massachusetts in 2010. The Republicans currently have 41 Seats in the Senate. The Democrats no longer have the 60 Seats in the Senate to be able to pass legislation without any challenge. Coakley stated that she will continue to serve as Attorney General for the Commonwealth. This is a monumental win for Brown giving the Republicans this seat in a Blue State.

International News/Natural Disasters 2010 The Haiti Earthquake

On Tuesday January 12, 2010, at 5:43pmET a 7.0 Earthquake rocked Haiti's Capital Port Au Prince and surrounding areas. The Earthquake initially caused tens of thousands of deaths from the impact of the Earthquake which laid out buildings throughout the Capital and leveled neighborhoods & villages. The Island West of the Dominican Republic by today Sunday is pretty much "devastated". This Natural Disaster is the greatest and most powerful natural disaster on record the past 200 years. The Quake destroyed Haiti's infrastructure and caused mass deaths. There was no tsumami warning after the 7.0 Earthquake like Samoa, American Samoa, and Indonesia had after that Earthquake had.
I was watching the News on CNN s Situation Room that Tuesday like I have been doing while working on my computer. The News came fast, and so did the work of the Press not only at CNN but in other Networks. I think people at first in the Media World were a bit stunned from what happened, and many of them quickly made means to travel to Haiti to report on individual accounts. The United States started out with a 100 million dollar pledge along with sending a Navy Carrier and 5000-6000 US Troops for the relief effort which was announced the next day. The Haitian people had to endure the night before any aid came into the country, and there was great suffering.
Wednesday by 11:37am Pacific Time, there were a recorded 28 Aftershocks after the 7.0 Earthquake averaging at 5.0. So since the Big One, there continued to be strong aftershocks while people: men, women, and children were trapped in rubble of buildings throughout the city. Everything was pretty much leveled from the looks for the photos and videos the Press game us. Those are Our People out there, and you can hear people speaking to the Press in English on their tragedy and losses.
The Interesting thing on those 28 Aftershocks it was reported on the map of the US Geological Survey all 28 were West of the initial Quake. The Epicenter was located 10 miles East of the Capital of Port Au Prince, and it gave no time for warning of the 3 million people residing their in structures that are not Earthquake proof or would be considered under code. The Earthquake occurred 6 miles deep (another report first had it at 5 miles deep) beneath the surface. The Quake was felt all the way West to Quantanamo Bay, Cuba.
From the first reports coming in, it was reported that 45,000 Americans were in Haiti. The American Press began to do a remarkable job on getting down there to report, show people video of rescues, and help in other ways. CNN's reporters quickly got to Haiti, and before the U.S. Administration had rescue teams there for Haiti, it was the Press that first arrived there to report on what was happening after the Big Earthquake. There was a strong Press Element there in the first junctures that did quickly bring on International Attention for people to get involved, and to do more to quickly respond in any way for Haiti's relief effort.
Wednesday, CNN's Sanjay Gupta Medical Correspondent interviewed the President of Haiti Rene Preval. President Preval was away from the Presidential Palace after the collapse and destruction of the Palace. President Preval talked about how He wanted to help Haiti's people and is cordination relief efforts. He said it was an "Incredible" Earthquake". He stated that he was still trying to "Understand the Magnitude of the Event". He said Hospitals, the major airport, Schools, homes, the Presidential Palace were destroyed. People are now on the streets for 2 days with little capacity.
President Preval stated that early on there were no reports of looting, and mentioned that the Haitian People understand what is happening while people throughout are working on rescuing people and locating loved one's where there are many missing people. President Preval from his sources stated that during the Interview with CNN's correspondent on the ground that atleast 50,000 deaths were caused from the Earthquake. He stated that 50,000 is still a low number and that it is too early to give a number nervously. Buildings are collapsed, and now there are possible health hazards from all the bodies on the streets lined up as people gather them up from rubble. President Preval stated that he was not worried about violence from people because the people see the Situation.
Another early Report by CNN's Chris Lawrence interviewed an American from Fort Meyer Eye Witness working at a school. He stated that the Earthquake lasted 60-90 seconds. The children in his school were Ok luckily.
A Camera video from a building the Press showed had the Earthquake going "Up and Down" from what I saw.
According to Singer Wyclif Jean he was on the phone talking to his friend in Haiti, and she stated that an Earthquake was coming while on the phone meaning it is possible that she heard the sound before the impact or shake of the Earthquake.
Many buildings and structures even houses were not made strong enough to withstand this and not made up to Earthquake Code like people in California have to have before building anything. These concrete buildings collapses, and when the Earthquake hit, then rocked through, the 60-90 seconds result of impact is what caused so much destruction.
People all throughout Haiti especially in Port Au Prince were not prepared for this kind of Earthquake. President Preval asked for aid immediately when he was on the International airwaves asking for essentials such as food, water, Medical Supplies, and heavy Equipment. Haiti is in need for everything right now while the rescue effort continues and people are looking for survivors still in the rubble beneath crumbled buildings of concrete.
It's Sunday Night/Monday Morning on the East Coast Right Now. The First 72 hours were the most crucial hours for rescue crews to get into Haiti and save as many people. The rescue effort of the people participating has been a valiant effort. One of the issues is that Haiti needs Equipment, and was not ready for such a Natural Disaster. To add, Haiti needs personnel where many people some way were effected by this Earthquake. By Late Last Week Orange County Firefighters were scheduled to leave March Air Force Base to bring in Supplies to Haiti to help in the Rescue Effort, but they were held up. Los Angeles Firefighter teams centraled from Pacoima also coordinated on getting mass supplies on planes for Haiti. I thought by Thursday the International Reaction was not fast enough. Friday Night from the reports, it seemed that little aid was getting to those in need.
In Haiti, there are thousands of people terrified still from all the aftershocks and are sleeping on streets. It was said when the Earthquake happened that people left their cars. CNN reported Wednesday that 9,000 UN Peace Keepers were still unaccounted for. The United States, China, Canada, France, Netherlands, Dominican Republic, Cuba, Venezuela, and Israel early on have committed on giving millions of dollars and providing equipment, assistence, and personnel for the Relief Effort/Immediate Response.

International National Disasters News/Earthquakes
It has been reported on the msn website that there has been a 7.8 magnitude Earthquake near Sumatra, Indonesia. Its been reported as a developing story.

Easter Sunday I was in Torrance, Ca having dinner at 3:40 a 7.2 Earthquake was felt lasting 20-30 seconds. The Earthquake at 7.2 was centered 19 miles SE of Mexicali, Mexico at Calexico. Unlike the Landers & Big Bear Earthquakes which I consider the Big Ones, this 7.2 Earthquake was felt in a wider radius. There has been limited information on what caused this Earthquake where fault lines and friction are popular terms people like to use. The Earthquake was felt as a horizontal or side to side motion and it lasted for a good juncture.

2010 is so far the Year of the Major Earthquakes. This 7.2 was more a side to side motion. There was no tsumani warning here in the Southland after the 7.2 Earthquake, and you would think being an Earthquake so big and felt althroughout the coast with people enjoying the weather on a Holiday afterward there ought to be a more organized communications response. I think people were very passive after the 3:40pm hour from how the Radio/TV gave us no direction for those people at the beach. There was no damage here locally.

This is Not a News Report
This is only for New Information regards to the latest 2 Earthquakes with One that happened Easter Sunday at Calexico, Mexico, and the other that was just reported as Happening in Sumatra, Indonesia at 7.8.
