Senate Panel Votes a “No” on Public Option What does that Mean? National Economy/National Editorial 12 by www.jamestowncalif.com 9-29-09
Tuesday the Senate Panel Voted a “No” on the Public Option Plan. The Health Care Insurance Bills so far have shown a certain bias. According to last weeks Los Angeles Times Thursday report, there is nothing in that bill that is going to control costs. To add, Medicare faces a 240 billion dollar reduction according to the Baucus Bill. What does this all mean? How does it affect people and how does it affect the National Economy, and what about the State’s Economy?
“It’s my job to put together a Bill that gets 60 Votes” said Baucus (ref msn.com report). Max Baucus is the Montana Democrat whom is the Chairman of the Senate Finance Committee. The President has stated that he wants the bill at a 900 billion dollar budget over the next 10 years. Some Independent groups have it at over a trillion.
It’s a policy where the Government Option is competing against Business and the Senate is the Middleman or in the middle making the votes while the bills are drawn up. Many leaders in the recently elected class of 2006 and 2008 have been very harsh on their words and assessment on those people against some of these bills. It is already known that many leaders consistently don’t read the paperwork before voting, so does that mean is that vote valid? It seems that the Congressional Leaders are desperate for getting a bill together no matter how much it costs, and no matter how it affects business and the economy. It is a true fact that the fact that this debate is even going on is because of two reasons. Reason number one is because the costs are high for care currently. The second reason is because the insurance companies continue to charge a lot on their policies, and sometimes they play tricks with the customer by dropping them sometimes, or fighting over the cost of the care with the doctor or hospital. To add when the hospital knows that either the State insurance or private insurance is going to pay for it, they raise costs on medications, care, and visits. The reforms are needed, but not in the fashion that I have noticed from what the Public Option is which was voted down today in the Senate.
The popular sang: “is the government option going to be able to pull the plug on grandma” is something the American People are concerned about. The American People rightful are standing up for their rights by debating this issue. The leaders are calling some meetings as Mob-like, and that is not right. Many people are happy with their insurance, and happy with what they have. Those people have played it by the rules over a course of time without changing that course and now the leaders want that disrupted.
The leaders say that a public option will not affect private insurance, but I disagree. It seems as if Washington wants the bill to be able to control the Health Care Industry State by State, and get people into their system. What will that do to the deficit in 10 years adding 900 billion-1 trillion dollars into that new system? It's like giving them a reason to print more money, then tax it, then pay interest on it while this system doesn’t control costs. Some leaders have said that the Bill will control costs, but according to the Los Angeles report Thursday last week, there was nothing showing that it will control costs. In fact costs can go up if the doctors and hospitals know that the government is going to pay for it. That will also mean that every person has the likely to be directed into care that they would not otherwise need. At the same time there have been reports that if you don’t have insurance you’re going to pay up 3800-4000 penalty for not having insurance. For every penalty or tax on people for not having insurance that money otherwise goes to the local & state economy.
It's like shoving it in your face and standing there telling people what are you going to do about it? It is unbelievable the newly elected leaders urge to borrow as much money as possible for all bills. Can there be a possible fraud that is going on?
I think that with all this information going around about what the groups have put together, it seems as if this is more about controlling the industry itself. There needs to be insurance reform I think. This can be the time when the economy flourishes by private insurance companies giving better deals on policies for people to afford. Instead, there has been nothing I have noticed by the insurance companies to give policies at lower costs. It is a tough economy, but in order to make the economy better you need to get competition in industries. This is a golden opportunity for the economy to get a boost of money, but so far it has not happened. The insurance company needs to do more to give incentives for people to buy policies that there is no need for a public option, nor the debate. Its is the excuse the leaders use knowing that its not health care reform we need, its insurance reform, and costs reform in hospitals and care that need some reform. And the big one, the giving people of medications, the costs of those drugs, who is going to pay for it. Right now they are already expensive, and I think too expensive, and that is what has not been addressed where the leaders are more keen borrowing another 1 trillion dollars to pay for a Health Care Reform Bill.
What happens if that money runs out? What will happen to the private insurance industry and the people whom make their living on selling insurance if there is a government option? Some argue that it is a government take over of the health care industry, is that a fair assessment? The first thing that will happen is that people will lose their jobs in the private insurance industry. People would quit if they were unable to sell insurance at the rate they have been or if the government option is less by even a few bucks. That is why the insurance companies need to do more. Those people that will not sell insurance anymore will have a gap in employment thus there is tax money that is lost from his income, then from what he owns say property. Taxes in the state level can be lost if a lot of people are put out of work over a bill that can change the way business is done from a private to a public economy.
Some of the leaders have acted in an aggressive stature on this issue. Some leaders have insulted people directly in the town hall meetings. I thought the B Frank comment to that lady:”What planet are you on” went to far. I also question where some of the leaders get their information and if they are intentionally either incompetent to running a National Economy or are deliberately trying to hurt people which ends up hurting the National Economy. Some of the news I have seen the last 2 weeks, I have never seen such bad news, and the economy is worse that it was last year at this time. The economy is the same only that there is more deficit spending, and that is what needs to be addressed. The private economy circulates and pays for itself. The public option can eventually go broke, just like everyone else has without a bail out. I think that the leaders seem desperate on getting a bill together then to vote on it as Baucus suggests he only cares about getting the 60 votes.
I think its remarkable all these commercials about trying to sell this health care reform when its more than that. “No American Should go broke because they get sick President Obama Says. He’s right in that commercial. However the leaders putting the bills together so far it has shown that first costs will not be controlled, and second there will be reductions in Medicare, and those are two big factors that people know that is not making sense in all this. Why do you want to cut Medicare, and why the Bill that has been put together has not addressed costs.
New York News, making it mandatory those workers that are in the health care industry have to take a H1N1 flu shot. There was some protests today in Albany on that new measure. Socialist Medicine is already trying to get through the barriers it seems now in New York creating a law for people that are doctors or working in the industry all having to take the shot. Some people may quit or not go to work over this. Its something that you wonder well how did the virus create up in the first place.
How is the Public Option going to create competition as Senator Shumar suggests saying that "We need a Bill"? What if it devastates the whole industries itself both the health care industry and the insurance industry? And what about the taxes that people generate from employment what happens to those taxes if people lose their jobs over these reforms that the tax payer is going to be paying for anyways the way the bills are structured right now?
And what about Cures for diseases, couldn't that 900 billion be used wiser, and does any of that money proposed do anything to get a cure for a disease?
thank you

National News/National Editorial 14
Appropriated Money's 14
The Need for Stimulus Money, the Need for bail outs, the need for Congress to vote on directing moneys in the National Treasury, who does it all go to? How is the Economy fairing after the 787 Billion USD Stimulus Package/Recovery Act by October 2009? Is the Economy better, worse, or the same? Are people pretty much at the mercy of their job and employer to be able to pay his bills and creditors, & then his/her taxes. I think its funny how the Media even shows clips of Congress people even talking about a second stimulus package. Now we are at the Health Care Debate/Issue.
There seems to be a change of policy in leaderships towards people of late on the way people/individuals may get discriminated against while they are out. The budget deficits are creating this environment where people are getting penalized for making driving mistakes on the roads then ticketing drivers. Its is an odd environment in this economy. Does any of this have to do with politics? It seems as if Political Views can be discriminated against too.
The News of the last 2 months has been a complete turn around, and joke of International Policy.
Who gets the Money on the Stimulus while it has not created even 1 job versus the amount it costs to get certain jobs going and produced. In fact, its all appropriated moneys. The Stimulus money at 787 Billion USD, and only a small percentage has even been given for projects that were supposed to save the economy and create jobs. VP Biden said: For the building of a bridge so drivers can get to the shopping mall. How is the bridge doing? How is the bridge doing with people?
In the Inland Empire, the unemployment rate is at 12%. The National Average is at 10-11%. One reason is because lately individuals have not been creating jobs. Another reason is because many of your folks haven't invested in a business, unable to for your sons to run after you retire. Many people have, and many people have also had tough times, been disrupted by politics in their business, and a lot of people are just getting by with their payments such as rent or car.
Right now with the 8000 tax break for first time home buyers it has been a good incentive for the boost in the real estate market. Lawmakers are considering extending that credit for first time home buyers. Why didn't they have that when I was a first time home buyer, or second time home buyer. Its funny how the economy fluctuates, and how some people have that insight or knowledge of how the economy is going to go, or how the election is going to go.
Afghanistan is the U.S. first most important issue I think. First to take the Generals advice, then to learn more information on the War since now 8 years later, the Media has still been unable to give the American People that straight answer. Many journalists have done a good job on their work giving us information on facts on International and National News Reports.
Now Its bizarre that Talk Radio and Rush Limbaugh are being overly criticized for his Republican Talk Show on EIB Network on 9am-12pmPT by the Administration. The Administration has even gone further on making statements that FOX News is not a News Agency. I didn't agree with that report by Greta in the North Korean Territory. Fox News is a different News Organization than other groups like CNN. Still, they have not really done anything to get this rebuttal from the top leaders administration that they are not a News Organization. What's the deal with that?
The Economy is 1.4 Trillion dollars in deficit in 1 year, this past year. Meanwhile, the Stimulus money is going to all those people that are hiding, uncaring about the News, disregarding the News. Its all about where the stimulus money is going, the projects, and the same tax money that you pay they use for the stimulus projects. Many people are still waiting for stimulus money for whatever excuse it is even if it involves spending money that is not there.
The News is unbelievable between the Reports, the Countries outside the U.S. News/transitions, and there is nobody yet out there able to solve that issue over where the Stimulus Money is going, and has it created a one job.
Health Care is the big issue while Afghanistan needs to be addressed. In the United States, Education is a big issue, and we talked about it about a few years ago, but it seems that its not as important as spending the money on stimulus, and bail outs. 56 Billion USD have been used thus far for projects/policies from the Recovery Act.
I think its remarkable that many people hurt other people, and many witnessed that are the same people that caused all this other people also witnessed, and how terrible does it look when some disregarded others over the appropriated moneys from 2000-2009.

What Up Ladies and Gentlemen. The ALCS: NYY wins 4-1 vs LAA tough game all New York. I like both teams. I am an Angels Fan first. Good Baseball. Series NYY 1-0. NLCS: LAD wins 2-1 hosting Phi Series 1-1. Ugly win for the Dodgers. I was able to listen to parts of the game on the Radio for the Dodgers 790 AM KABC LA and for the Angels 830 AM KLAA Anaheim. The Yankees/Angels Series is always entertaining and good baseball. In the Game at New York in the mid innings many played balls by New York on Defense the Crowd it sounded was very loud at there. From the Radio, it sounded like the Fans for the Yankees came out to cheer, and that is good for baseball. A Must win Saturday for the Angels Game 2. Thanks for reading.

The 3 Earthquakes in Pacific Rim: Samoa, American Samoa, Indonesia- National Current Events 2009/Natural Disasters written 10-03-09 from week of Tuesday 9-28-09
The 1st Earthquake in the Pacific Rim gave little time for people to evacuate or prepare for what was to come and that was the Tsunami that came afterward. The 8.0 Earthquake occurred at dawn before 7am. From Tuesdays report and Wednesday Los Angeles Times report 119 people died in the Samoan Islands. The Earthquake came first, and within 9-10 minutes the Tsunami waves came in after one, two, three, four of them which reached from 15-20 feet high. The residents ran to higher ground in fear. The Islands looked like they had been hit by lightning from the ocean‘s power onto the island which the water destroyed in its path large structures, a main power and communications area, and many deaths were reported as children.
The 8.0 Earthquake was said to have created the tsunami waves onto the Samoan Islands. Just minutes after the quake came the tsunami waves. There was great destruction and devastation from the terrifying quake. The whole area felt the affects of the disaster in some way. Many people were unaccounted for while searches going on. Many residents in the United States have recounts of family members not accounted for.
There is a lot of prayer going on within the Samoan Community. What I noticed after researching the disaster more by reading the newspapers information that Samoan people are very caring for one another, and there are over 50000 residents that live in Southern California. The website for you to be able to help is under www.helpsamoa.com.
“Cars were swept away and overturned”. In American Samoa the 1 of 2 main power lines were knocked off during the disasters, but how destroyed they are more investigations are needed for the aftermath. During the tsunami waves incoming inland, there were poor communications, and the Los Angeles Times report used the word “spotty”.
“A mass of water that rose with steady destruction force as it neared. It was not a wave you could spot at a distance on the ground”. (Los Angeles Times ref D Farmal a 45 year old resident)
There were 6 confirmed deaths at Tonga which is South of Samoa Island.
Wednesday came the next Earthquakes at Indonesia. The Sumatra Earthquake measured 7.6 centered at Padang a city of 900 thousand people. There are 200 confirmed deaths from Wednesdays report and according to the Health Minister Siti Fadilla Supart he believes that possibly a 1000 more people may have died from the Earthquake, and 500 people trampled in destroyed buildings.
In the Samoan Islands, there was a quick response initially according to most reports for relief efforts and supplies such as food, water, and some medicine are coming in from Hawaii. Reuters News Agency reported that places are burning from destruction. Big buildings, markets, and hospitals were destroyed.
The 2nd Earthquake at Sumatra measured 6.8, and that one did not cause any tsunami warning. The Earthquakes between the Samoan Islands and Indonesia are 6000 miles apart.
Oddly Tuesday all the way 100 miles from La Paz at Juliaca, Peru there was a 5.9 Earthquake measured which on the global map, all the Earthquakes happened along the Pacific Rim belt.
The question is why or how did they happen when they happened, and what caused the tsunami at the Samoan Islands in case that emergency happens again so that people can be better prepared.
According to ABC reports the tsunami waves force reached up to 500 miles per hour. Some recounts of people on the ground have said that buildings are gone, not damaged, but gone. One man said (Joey Cummings): Like a bomb went off, a radio personality took some videos while the water coming. There was little media there during the disasters recording the events. People were reported as missing, cars washed away, and some people swept away up to buildings. 4 tsunamis slammed the coastal resorts.
2 locations and 1 in Peru, the Earthquakes in the Pacific Rim during the past week occurred. Tuesday the ABC Report had President Obama issue the American Samoan Island a State of Emergency while the Los Angeles Times first reported Wednesday “a disaster area”. The Pago Pago Quake at the American Samoan Island at 8.0 caused 119 deaths confirmed with some people washed out to sea. The waves came in and it all happened so fast, the preparedness gave little time for people to evacuate orderly. The U.S. Coast Guard was sending aircraft with relief supplies. The Coast Guard on TV stated that “these are the conditions we thrive on”.
The USA Today Newspaper gave some good facts on the reports of the disasters. They reported that the destruction at the American Samoa side was the worst natural disaster on U.S. Soil since Hurricane Katrina. They also reported that President Obama declared the American islands a disaster area. FEMA and the U.S Coast Guard seemed to be coordinating effectively as they were working on getting supplies from Hawaii.
People you can see caring for each other from the reports here in Southern California trying to communicate with their loved one’s. There was a lot of sadness, stress, anxiety, and anguish from people’s individual counts and loses from these disasters particularly the tsunami waves. There was a people/human element I notice throughout the week while I was working on putting together a news report.
The USA Today Newspaper stated that the Tsunami waves were caused by an earthquake 120 miles away remote South West at 7am which caused four waves up to 20 feet high. They reported that the waves reached a mile inland according to their source from the National Park Service.
One of the parts of the report I noticed to be interesting was the time the Earthquake occurred, early in the morning, and then the tsunami’s. How were the islands social and protective services working during the crisis nearby? According to the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center in Hawaii, they stated or said that it issued an alert, but the waves got to the island so quickly that people only had about 10 minutes warning after the quake, and this is a fact.
Pago Pago was leveled with mud. Fishing boats and sail boats were tossed. There was an estimated 1000 people that are without homes. Relief response seemed to be quick after the tsunami destruction.
40 miles West of American Samoa, Tonga was ravaged hard by the disasters. The USA Today had a good photo alongside the report which told the story in itself on what happened, or what came in there? There was total destruction in parts of Tonga.
People were running up to the mountains and to higher ground. It was said out of 60000 people residing there, possibly 30000 evacuated in that same fashion. Children were reported amongst the deaths. The city of Lalomanu was said to be hardest hit. Some buildings you couldn’t find them. Gaigaifo had reported the destruction of homes. The air photo of Pest Fonua AP showed the Western Island of Tonga at Hihifo wiped out. The Villages are absent as the wooden structures were easily washed away.
The Waves destroyed the Park Visitor Center. The Church of Latter Day Saints reported 8 deaths they confirmed. The New Zealand Harold reported 1 Australian citizen death, and they reported that they expect the tolls will all increase as information is gathered in. The United States is directing the relief effort in American Samoa, and Australia is directing the relief effort in Samoa.
The VA issued information for people in need at American Samoa that their facility is ready to serve and care for people. In the beginning of the tsunami there was pandemonium as there were people coming into the hospital centers with great emotion. People accounted the situation there that were not enough beds/cots for the bodies coming in from the destructive path of the waves while having to care for new patients.
In Indonesia, the 2nd Earthquake occurred right in the middle of the Sumatra Island at the West Coastal City of Padang. The Indian Ocean is West of Sumatra. The Earthquakes were felt on other islands nearby. The epicenter at Padang measured radius reading was up to the middle inland of the island according to the illustrations.
The USA Today Reported the Earthquake at 7.6 as an undersea quake that was said to have toppled buildings, creating landslides, and even starting fires. The Quake Wednesday was followed by a shallow inland quake at 6.8 where at Padang there are 200 people so far reported deaths. 500 buildings were destroyed, and the extent of the damage is undeclared until communications are improved.
There were a reported 372 deaths from Typhoon Ondoy at the Philippines. The typhoon landed in Vietnam, Laos, and parts of Cambodia. More information on the Manila disasters and upcoming Typhoon information log on to the Filipino-American Newspaper at the www.AsianJournal.com Orange County and Inland Empire October 2-8, 2009 Issue. I think it is important for people to know the newspapers of the different cultures so in case of emergency people are better prepared.
John McCain stated in a news flash that he thinks that it’s important to get better information, and that we need to gather all the good, reliable, and accurate information as much as we can to better know how to handle and deal with situations, and I agree with that.
There is currently another typhoon warning in the Philippines area after the Sept 26 disaster. It was reported at 11:09 ABC LA News that a second typhoon in eight days has landed at Manila killing 16 people so far and it’s on its way to Taiwan. Typhoon Parma continues to wage.
In the USA Today Newspaper Hugh Gentry from Reuters captured an interesting photo of a car in a house that was flown or tossed into a structure buildings' window through the wall in American Samoa.
The New York Times article by Liz Robbins was a well informed article. The area of the Earthquake at the Samoan Islands was located right under, and for the distance of where the first 8.0 quake occurred, there was over a 100 miles from the quake and where the tsunami waves hit.
The New York Times Newspaper Thursday starts out with the Iraq Elections at Parliament. The Los Angeles Times front page article starts out informing readers about gun laws and the concern regarded Gun Rights. The USA Today front page Thursday had the First Lady's picture of her lobbying for the Olympic Games to be held in Chicago.
Interestingly the USA Today also has EPA News on the front page of its October 1, 2009 edition where the EPA finds toxins in the air outside of 15 schools. There are 3 schools located in the Southern California Area including Lennox Elementary, Soto Street Elementary in Los Angeles, Santa Anita Christian Academy in El Monte. The EPA Reported Alabama having 4 schools, Kentucky having 3 schools, and Michigan, Ohio, New York, and South Carolina are reported to each having one school affected. The Samoan Tsunami News Photo is located in the middle of the Newspaper. The New York Times front page photo directs the reader to page A6 getting more in depth to the story news reports. It was reported that in Samoa there were 103 deaths, and 145 injuries. I liked the Report by the New York Times by giving other information about the plates which caused these quakes, and the location of them.
There were 24+ aftershocks shown in a 200 mile radius after the 8.0 Earthquake. On the East side of Samoa, Upolu was devastated and hard hit. The 8.0 Earthquake occurred 120 miles South West of the Islands which was said to be an undersea earthquake that caused the Tsunami waves causing all that destruction and loss of lives. The Red Cross reported recovering 79 bodies at Samoa. They reported that 30 villages were destroyed. There was spread out damage of roads through Pago Pago from the tsunami’s destructive path.
“Both Earthquakes occurred in spots where one plate of the earth’s crust is sliding beneath another plate”. The Sumatra Earthquake’s depth of the epicenter was 49.7 miles. In Samoa, the epicenter was 11.2 miles under the ocean below the seabed. The location of the 8.0 was in a remote location of the Pacific Ocean. The territory’s Governor of the Samoan Islands Togiola T.A. Tulafano said that the most damage and destruction was caused by the 2nd and 3rd incoming tsunami waves. Padang sits on one of the world’s most active fault lines.

According to last weeks latimes.com report, there is nothing in that bill that is going to control costs.
Some leaders have said that the Bill will control costs, but according to the latimes report Thursday last week, there was nothing showing that it will control costs.
There was some protests today on that new measure.
And what about Cures for diseases, couldn't that 900 billion be used wiser, and does any of that money proposed do anything to get a cure for a disease?
thank you

The 8.0 Earthquake occurred 120miles South West of the Islands which was said to be an undersea earthquake that caused the Tsunami waves causing all that destruction and loss of lives.
